The Most Dangerous Sex Positions That almost Cause Penis Fractures

Penile fracture, although rare, is a very real risk during sexual intercourse. The idea of such an injury is enough to send a shiver of fear down the spine of even the boldest of men.

We’re talking about penis fractures and today researchers have discovered the sex position which holds the title as the one most likely to cause it – ‘Doggy Style’.

Coming to these surprising results was no easy feat. Researchers here had to delve into the sex lives of 90 patients aged between 18 and 66-years-old who had suffered from a penile fracture. They then split these injuries into categories across masturbation or penile manipulation, ‘man-on-top’ position, ‘doggy style’ position, ‘woman-on-top’ position, blunt trauma and ‘rolling over’ fracture.

Within the shaft of the penis are two cylinders of spongy erectile tissue that are known collectively as corpora cavernosa. In response to feelings of sexual desire or physical stimuli to the penis or other male erogenous zones, send blood coursing toward the pelvic region. As that robust blood flow fills up the corpora cavernosa, the penis becomes erect.

It should come as no surprise that penile fracture is an incredibly painful experience. If the pain were not enough to alert you that something was amiss, penile fracture is almost always signaled by a snapping sound, which occurs presumably as the taut tunica albuginea ruptures.
